problem in the canon of translation
---
Fortes Fide just poured his heart out and came up with some to discuss translation issues in the Roman canon. "Your Community" for familiae tuae has already been clarified in the comments that Konsekrationspoesie "for all" refers to all known Prayers
There are specific to the Roman canon of another problem area. Paraphrases the current missal in the Commemoratio per vivis (memory of the living) the expression per spe salutis suae et incolumitatis with "their hope for the captive salvation." In the transfer of the old bulkhead, the above-mentioned "sacrifice of praise" ( sacrificium laudis ) offered so that the "hope to prevail on health and welfare". "Welfare" as a translation convinced me not quite as this - sounds more like social security, where to go but at far higher - at least to modern ears. In classical Latin, the term incolumitas "integrity" or "conservation". This is one sense, the closest.
against the current translation is purely grammatically wrong with that incolumitatis can not relate as an adjective to salutis ( would then pro spe salutis Incolumis are in the original), but primarily as a second genitive obiectivus the statement further: the hope is the salvation and to the integrity of those contemporaries, for whom the sacrifice of praise is offered
.
Now we know that the editing of the canon of text at a flowing meter was located. And was oriented in poetic speech in ancient times often the maxim of euphony, the accuracy was in doubt before the priority. Therefore can speculate that the integrity not strictly grammatical, but at least in spirit could belong to salvation. A responsible customizable translation would then speak of the "hope of salvation intact. Moreover, as with incolumitas far more than Social Security would be meant like this paraphrase meet the real meaning even. A corresponding correction uses a priest of my acquaintance at the celebration.
a "hope for the captive salvation" known to the Roman Canon did not. The translation is just as wrong as ambiguous and it would not surprise me if an advanced medical optimists has gone deliberately out of the pen: We're all somehow come anyway in the sky. Question: Why should one then still hope
The memory of the survivors is the memory of those who live in statu viatoris who are still on pilgrimage through life on earth?. Here indeed is a risk that this salvation would be maimed. But here is a sense of hope - the hope, that this salvation, the seeds of the man already has in itself, will not grow and maimed: hope of salvation just intact. Captive? It may be in the state of pilgrimage, which is also the state of hope, quite lost. It will be lost until the completion; but then plays the role hope no more.
